Consistency the key for Tom Davies to establish himself in Everton's midfield

The ECHO continue to rate every Everton player for their performances so far this season.

Next up is local lad Tom Davies.

Phil Kirkbride - 6

Tom Davies has experienced plenty this season.

He's been in the team, he's been on the bench, he's even been left out of the squad.

He's played well, he's played poorly, he scored in an important win but has also been involved when the team have lost heavily.

But then it has been that kind of season for a lot of his team-mates, this isn't exclusive to Davies.

And though he has played nearly 100 times in the Premier League, he is still only 21 and still learning his trade.

It's been a 6/10 season for the West Derby midfielder.  Some good, some bad and search for consistency that has not been found.

Sam Carroll - 6

There is, undoubtedly, something there.

Davies adds energy and dynamism to the midfield but, at times, appears to lack that final, killer touch.

But the same can be said for the entire midfield.

A young man with the Premier League experience he possesses should not be sniffed at and with a full pre-season under Carlo Ancelotti it will be his time to kick-on next term.

Tens of thousands of Everton supporters will be backing the local lad to do so week-in, week-out.

Connor O'Neill - 5

The best word to describe Tom Davies for Everton this season is inconsistent.

It still feels like the Academy graduate is yet to kick on and hit the heights expected when he first burst on the scene.

At times, Davies looks exactly the type of energetic midfielder the Blues need in the middle of the pitch.

But then on other occasions he simply looks lost and unsure what he is meant to be doing.

That may not all be his fault, as the different managers Everton have had over the past few years could have certainly had an affect on the youngster.

But right now, Davies remains a player who divides opinion among supporters, with his best position still up for debate.

And he is certainly in the bracket of being one of those players whose long-term future at the club remains uncertain.
