'Considerable interest' in Nottingham Forest's bitter rivals Derby County

Nottingham Forest’s arch-rivals Derby County have received "considerable interest" in the club, according to reports.

The East Midlands outfit are believed to be on the market for just £1, with any new ownership taking on the debt which has been amassed in recent years under the stewardship of local businessman Mel Morris.

Derbyshire Live reports that the Rams, who sit eighth in the Championship under manager Frank Lampard, have attracted interest from the United States, Canada, the Far East and across Europe.

Owner Morris made it clear last year he was open to outside investment in the club he took sole charge of in 2015, for what was understood to be around £50m.

It’s thought that since buying the club, Morris has invested around £150m in a bid to return Derby to the Premier League after an absence of 11 years, something they’ve yet been unable to achieve.

Whether that interest in the Championship club turns into part investment or a full takeover remains to be seen or if a formal bid will even be forthcoming, but the report claims talks are underway and there could be developments later this week, before the Rams return to league action at home to struggling Rotherham this weekend.
