Conor Washington seals Hearts deal as Northern Ireland striker signs two-year contract

Hearts have made their second signing of the summer with the exciting capture of Conor Washington on a two-year deal.

Record Sport exclusively revealed earlier this week the capital club was closing in on the Northern Ireland striker.

And despite facing competition from the English Championship and League 1, Craig Levein has landed the Sheffield United star.

Washington’s signing follows the deal for Craig Halkett, who at the end of the season penned a pre-contract from Livingston.

The 27-year-old will add much-needed firepower, with the Gorgie side having only Uche Ikpeazu and Steven MacLean up front.

Steven Naismith is also expected to sign – but Washington’s deal has been announced first.

He has played for a host of clubs but really made his name at Peterborough United, where he scored 27 goals in 82 appearances. Washington then won a move to QPR before switching to Brammal Lane.

There he failed to net last season in 15 appearances.

Hearts are also trying to broker a deal to bring Jamie Walker back to Gorgie.
