Conor Washington's Hearts exit in doubt with Charlton embroiled in board room power struggle

Conor Washington's move from Hearts to Charlton is hanging in the balance.

The Northern Ireland international has agreed a two-year deal in principle with the London club and the Jambos are happy to let him move on after a fee was agreed.

But the League One club's board are at loggerheads with each other and the English Football League, reports the Daily Record.

Owners ESI, current Valley Parade chairman Paul Elliot and club lawyer Chris Farnell are vying for power.

The league body has set up and independent panel to examine the possible take over at the South London outfit, and as  result Charlton must seek permission from the league to register new players.

That's left Washington in limbo as he waits to find out whether his move can happen or not and hopes to find out before Thursday.

The 28-year-old is currently sitting tight in Edinburgh and still has a year left on his Tynecastle deal.

But injury wrecked his first season in Gorgie and as one of the squad's higher earners, was unlikely to stay after Hearts' relegation to the Championship.
