Conor Washington deals Hearts devastating blow as striker ruled out for THREE months

Hearts have suffered yet another cruel blow with the news Conor Washington has been ruled out for three months with a hamstring tear.

The Northern Ireland striker was injured after coming on as a substitute in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Motherwell, pulling up lame as he chased a loose ball down the left flank.

It left Hearts playing with 10 men and consigned Craig Levein’s side to the bottom of the Premiership table.

Washington, 27, was sent for a scan and the results on Tuesday confirmed the club’s worst fears. The former Sheffield United and QPR forward is now set to be sidelined until at least December.

Washington, who has scored two goals in nine outings since his summer, will also miss Northern Ireland’s crucial Euro 2020 qualifiers Holland (twice), Czech Republic and Germany.

Washington joins Jamie Walker, Peter Haring, John Souttar and Ben Garuccio on the treatment table as the Jambos’ injury curse strikes again.

However, it is understood that under-fire Hearts boss Craig Levein is hopeful of having previously crocked trio Steven Naismith , Michael Smith and Joel Periera back for Sunday’s crunch Edinburgh derby against Hibernian.
