Conor McMenamin joked he would let Joe Gormley off the hook following some penalty confusion on Saturday.
Cliftonville defeated Larne 1-0 at Solitude to remain third in the Irish Premiership table.
Ryan Curran got the winning goal three minutes from time, sparing the blushes of striking talisman Gormley who had earlier missed from the spot.
The normally prolific goalscorer dragged his spot-kick wide in the 54th minute after he had been fouled by Albert Watson inside the box.
But there seemed to be some debate over who should have been taking the penalty.
Ryan Curran has been the regular penalty taker this season, but he was on the bench when this one was awarded.
"I can't believe he didn't give me it," McMenamin laughed.
"Joe wanted to give Rory (Donnelly) it, and then I said I'll hit it, but Joe said no and took it himself.
"Now he is saying he would have let me hit it.
"Look, it is forgotten about now. Thankfully, it didn't cost us any points. I'm sure if we get another one I'll be on it."
