Conor McGregor welcomes Celtic legend John Hartson to The Black Forge Inn

Conor McGregor was delighted to see a bona fide Celtic legend in John Hartson dropping by his pub while in Dublin.

McGregor saluted the former target man in a social media post after he had paid a visit to the Crumlin boozer.

He wrote: "The Celtic FC legend himself, Mr. John Hartson in enjoying the finest food and drinks Ireland has to offer at The Black Forge Inn."

For as much as McGregor is very active in promoting his various other ventures such as his pubs and Proper 12 whiskey (despite selling his majority stake in 2021), he has recently reiterated his goal to return to the octagon once more.

Last weekend, he told Sky Sports of his belief that his MMA career is far from finished while attending the Monaco Grand Prix.

The 33-year-old insisted: "That story is far from finished. In fact, that story is still being written.

"The body's doing good, I'm out here with my full team. Obviously I'm enjoying the Monaco Grand Prix, and after that we're going to up the training bit-by-bit.

"I should be able to kick now, I've another CT-scan in the coming days, and then I'll be cleared to kick. Once I can kick and grapple, I'll be back in in no time.

"Boxing training is going well, and strength training, so I'm excited to get back."

And while the former two-weight world champion will happily plug his pub at any opportunity, it appears he won't be allowing himself to enjoy anymore pints there for quite some time based off a tweet yesterday where he vowed to swear off alcohol in order to fully immerse himself into training.

In a slightly bizarre tweet, he initially said: "Lord, I have ceased drinking my liquid gold and I may be feeling worse, if this is a sign abort, please retweet."

That was then followed up with: "But summer is just starting, my child."

While both messages were rather strange, the reference to giving up drinking was taken by fans as the clearest evidence yet that he has a fight date in mind sometime this summer.
