Conor McGregor vs Khabib 2 will make too much money for it not to happen, says Russian's coach

Khabib Nurmagomedov's head coach believes there is too much money to be made from a rematch between Conor McGregor and the Russian for the UFC not to let it happen.

The Notorious announced his retirement from MMA for the third time in four years in June,  but many believe he will return to the Octagon in the future.

Javier Mendez, who will be preparing Nurmagomedov for his bout with Justin Gaethje next month, still thinks the lightweight champion will take on McGregor again.

He told The Express: "If I'm the UFC and I'm the president, I'm not going to let that fight off the table.

"Especially if Conor wants to fight and Khabib is still the champion. Then you can make that fight.

"I wouldn't let them [not fight]. That's my job, right? To make the most money for the company."

He added: "Let's put it this way: If that makes the most money out of anybody, then that means it's the most interesting fight people want to see. Correct?

"Obviously I would think everybody still wants to see that fight. Otherwise, why would they pay for it. That's why I think the UFC would do that."

Meanwhile, McGregor and Dee Devlin have been enjoying themselves in recent weeks after announcing their engagement last month.

The pair are in Monaco with their kids Conor Jr. and Croia as McGregor prepares for a gruelling 180 km water bike challenge with Princess Charlene of Monaco next weekend.

It begins in Corsica on September 12 and finishes at Monaco's Yacht Club the following day.
