Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3 weigh-in results for trilogy fight

Conor McGregor today made good on his promise to weigh in one pound heavier for his third fight with Dustin Poirier.

The Irishman had made 'championship weight' before the lightweights clashed for a second time in Abu Dhabi six months ago.

But he had insisted he would not attempt to strip any more weight from his frame than was necessary ahead of his revenge mission tomorrow night.

And he was true to his word, entering the weigh-in room just over 15 minutes into the one-hour window.

Poirier, meanwhile, was the first fighter on the scale and he matched his rival, weighing the same as he did in January.

Having stepped on to the scales separately, the pair will come together one last time before the first bell during the ceremonial weigh-ins this evening.

Replacement opponent Rafael Dos Anjos also weighed in at 156lb and will step in should either McGregor or Poirier be forced to pull out before the first bell.

After weighing in, Poirier admitted he took huge confidence from his win over McGregor earlier this year.

"The biggest difference for me is that I proved something to myself that I knew I could do," he said. "I went out there and beat him.

"It's a different fight now, every fight is a different fight and as long as I'm better than yesterday, that's all I look at.

"I knew I was going to press forward and try and hurt him with shots. As fighters when you get hit with a shot it's what we do, we push forward.

"He probably thought I was going to try and bang it out and be emotional but I'm past that. I'm trying to move on strategy and not emotion and thats the plan tomorrow night; whatever is open I'll take it."

The winner of Saturday night's fight will earn a shot at lightweight champion Charles Oliveira later this year.

And Poirier added: "I know another win over him,I know what it does for my career. My trajectory goes up and more opportunity come with that, obviously a title fight.

"I'm a prizefighter but first and foremost I'm a provider and that's why I went down this route, doubling down on myself and fighting this guy to get to a title shot.

"I haven't had an easy road and if I'm truly the best in the world I'll beat this guy again and get to a title shot."
