Conor McGregor vows to 'destroy' Dustin Poirier as he confirms trilogy fight

Conor McGregor has confirmed what many already knew this afternoon - that he and Dustin Poirier will go at it one more time in a trilogy fight this summer.

And as he prepares for a July 10 showdown at UFC 264, McGregor has vowed to 'destroy' Poirier after he was knocked out by him in January.

The Diamond got his revenge on the Notorious one at UFC 257 with the second round TKO, almost seven years after McGregor scored a TKO victory over him.

Both fighters were intent on a trilogy fight in the aftermath, and it's now set to be announced by the UFC with both fighters training hard for the big night.

Taking to Twitter, McGregor said: "The fight is booked! July 10th you’re gonna see what the Mac is about. Adjust and absolutely f*****g destroy!".

It comes after UFC lightweight title challenger Michael Chandler claimed that Poirier can't lose the fight after snubbing a shot at the belt.

“Now that they’re both 1-1, now it’s a fight that Dustin can’t lose,” Chandler told MMA Fighting.

“He knows he passed up on the title shot in order to take this fight.

“So there’s going to be a ton of pressure on Dustin to win this fight or else he passed up on a title shot that he might not get for a while.

“Taking another fight or two to get back to the title and it could be me and Conor fighting next, if Conor wins.”
