Conor McGregor v Dustin Poirier UFC 257: Tony McGregor's 'calm before the storm' message ahead of main event fight

Conor McGregor's dad has backed the UFC star to put on another fighting masterclass against Dustin Poirier.

The Notorious faces the American in the early hours of Sunday morning in his first fight since beating Donald Cerrone 12 months ago.

And Tony McGregor is predicting a huge performance from his son.

He posted on Instagram: "The calm before Storm McGregor.

"Storm McGregor to hit Abu Dhabi.

"May God bless you."

Meanwhile, Khabib Nurmagomedov has tipped McGregor to beat Poirier - but only if he ends the fight within two rounds.

The Russian said: "Just two rounds - Conor.

"Early, it's Conor. But, third round, number four, I think Dustin can beat this guy."

McGregor is still hopeful of tempting Nurmagomedov out of retirement and into a rematch, as he looks to avenge his 2018 defeat.

Nurmagomedov called time on his career last year with an unbeaten 29-0 record, but after discussions with UFC president Dana White, he admitted he could be persuaded back into the Octagon for "something spectacular".
