Conor McGregor UFC news: Rafael dos Anjos hits back at Notorious as old rivalry reignites

UFC star Rafel dos Anjos has hit back at Conor McGregor after he said that RDA's broken foot that led to their UFC 196 fight being called off was a 'bruise'.

It comes after McGregor reignited his old rivalry with the ex- UFC champion on Sunday morning, sending some less than complimentary tweets to the Brazilian.

And dos Anjos has hit back at the former UFC two-weight champion, claiming that his career would have panned out differently had the pair fought back in 2016.

In a response to the Dubliner on Twitter yesterday, Dos Anjos said: "That broken foot is my working tool. Making fun as a fellow fighter shows the person you are.

"Before sleep you wonder what life would’ve been if that fight happened and I made you eat that foot."

The former lightweight champions were supposed to square off for the belt, but Dos Anjos was forced to pull out with an injury and was replaced by Nate Diaz, who went on to beat McGregor.

And when RDA got back to winning ways this weekend with a win over fellow welterweight contender Kevin Lee, McGregor took to Twitter to troll his former rival.

When MMA journalist Josh Gross tweeted about the fight that never was, McGregor got involved himself, saying "I guess we’ll never know, cos he bottled it, with a broken toe."

And when a fan tweeted a gruesome photo of the incident, the 30-year-old Irishman responded yet again, adding: "Lol my bad, I didn’t know it was actually just a bruise."

McGregor also claims that he was supposed to fight RDA for what would have been his third title in the interim Welterweight strap last year, but there was never an official confirmation.

He was reportedly set to finally scrap with the Brazilian on May 12th at UFC 224, but after the infamous Brooklyn bus attack, he was pulled from the event which went on to be headlined by Amanda Nunes v Raquel Pennington.
