Conor McGregor UFC news: Paul Felder calls out Notorious after UFC 242 win

Paul Felder has named Conor McGregor as a potential opponent after beating Edson Barboza at UFC 242.

'The Irish Dragon' won via split decision after the co-main event lasted all three rounds.

And he quickly called out a number of top lighweight fighters, including The Notorious.

Speaking after the bout, he said: “All you top five guys out there, you can’t run no more.

“Come in here and get some [Justin] Gaethje, Tony [Ferguson], Conor [McGregor], I don’t care who you are. I’m only in here to be in here with the best.”

Felder's victory came before Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Dustin Poirier in the main event.

The Eagle dominated the fight from the start and stopped Poirier in the third round with a choke, reports The Mirror.

The Russian was fighting for the first time since he choked out Conor McGregor almost a year ago.

Having served a nine-month ban and been fined $500,000, Nurmagomedov made his return at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.

In his absence, Poirier had won the 155lb belt by outpointing current featherweight champion Max Holloway.

Temperatures inside the purpose-built arena nudged 40C as the fighters hit the cage shortly after midnight.

The conditions were perhaps better suited to Louisianan Poirier who trains in the Florida heat.

But Nurmagomedov brought an impeccable record of 27-0 to the Octagon - as well as the backing of a sold-out partisan crowd.

And after a quiet opening minute to the first round, he gave them what they had come for and began to swarm all over Poirier.

Three times the champion looked to have locked in a rear-naked choke but on each occasion Poirier somehow escaped.

But each glimmer of hope was soon snuffed out as Nurmagomedov ended the round pounding away on the canvas.

Poirier however came out for the second session with all guns blazing and a flurry of punches had Nurmagomedov briefly backpedalling.

He responded with kicks to the leg and body before shooting for - and executing - another takedown.

Poirier managed to stay out of danger but the constant pressure from the champion looked certain to take its toll.

And it finally did in the third round but not before Poirier gave the champion a scare by looking to lock in a choke of his own.

But Nurmagomedov wriggled free and flipped the tables, forcing an exhausted Poirier to tap.

The champion then raced out of the cage - as he did last year - only this time in celebration.
