Conor McGregor UFC news: Odds slashed on Notorious fighting Nate Diaz for a third time

Conor McGregor is being backed to take on arch rival Nate Diaz for a third time.

The score is currently 1-1 after their two fights in 2016, with Diaz winning the first before The Notorious won the other.

Boylesports report the pair are now being backed to face off in a decider after they renewed rivalries this week, with Diaz claiming McGregor has been ‘spoiled’ by the UFC having had everything handed to him.

The bookmaker make it just 9/4 that they are pitted together again before the end of the year, a prospect that was out at 10/1 just days ago.

A rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov is looking increasingly unlikely at 16/1 with the Russian set to face Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi next month in a lightweight title unification clash.

The Dubliner is odds-on at 5/6 to fight again this year and has also been made a 4/9 favourite should he secure the Diaz clash at lightweight.

Diaz makes his first UFC appearance since the McGregor defeat in 2016 this weekend but finds himself as the 21/20 outsider against Anthony Pettis, who is odds-on at 3/4 to mar the Californian’s return to the octagon.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “There’s no doubt that fans would love to see a McGregor v Diaz trilogy completed and with Diaz ramping up the rhetoric this week, it bears all the hallmarks of setting up the fight.

"We’ve been forced to slash the odds with the bout appearing much more likely now than a Khabib rematch."
