Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious warned UFC rival would "piece him up" if he makes comeback

Conor McGregor has been warned he faces getting "pieced up" by Jorge Masvidal if he makes a return to UFC.

UFC chief Dana White has discussed McGregor's return and stated they will wait until after Nate Diaz vs Anthony Pettis on Saturday and Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Dustin Poirier in September have taken place.

But Jorge Masvidal has also been tipped as a possible opponent - and his close friend Colby Covington reckons he would "piece up Conor for sure".

McGregor has mostly competed at lightweight whilst Masvidal is a welterweight with his slight size advantage a factor Covington reckons would be decisive.

"He would piece up Conor for sure," Covington said of 34-year-old Masvidal.

"No doubt about it. Conor's too small. He's a little guy."

With Covington being lined up to face UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, Masvidal could push for a lucrative shot at McGregor instead - a scenario Covington would favour.

"Absolutely (that works)," Covington told Submission Radio. "He knew that title shot was never his all along.

"We (him and Masvidal) are one of the best dynamic duos in the history of MMA, but let's get it right, we are the Batman and Robin, of course I'm Batman and he's Robin, but you guys know what I mean."

Masvidal told ESPN last month he wants to "break McGregor's face" and earn an "easy paycheck.

"I want McGregor," he said.

"I want to break his face. I think that's an easy paycheck. He's got these cash symbols written all over his face for me. I just don't see it going his way if I'm honest with you.

"Definitely the title, definitely Kamaru Usman interests me.

"He's got the title and that's what I want but he's always having injuries and things are happening."
