Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious speaks out after pleading not guilty in Miami 'phone smashing'

Conor McGregor has spoken out for the first time since entering not guilty pleas in a US court last night.

It follows his arrest in Miami Beach, Florida last month where he allegedly slapped a phone out of a man’s hand and stamped on it when he tried to take the former MMA fighter’s photo.

McGregor was not present in Miami-Dade County Court for the hearing.

His case is due to come before the court again on April 30, with the trial date slated for May 13.

He could face a maximum of six years in prison if found guilty of stamping on the fan’s phone.

And the Dubliner has now spoken out for the first time since pleading not guilty.

Responding to a fan who accused him of being a "mess", McGregor wrote on Twitter: "I am quite fine thank you.

"Don’t believe everything you read!

"And from certain outlets, believe NOTHING you read!"

The MMA superstar also addressed criticism of his performance against Russian champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, and revealed he had entered the fight with an injury.

He added: "I broke my foot three weeks out from the bout.

"I still marched forward however, and also landed the final blows of the night. On his blood brother.

"I am happy with how the contest went and the lessons learned.

"In my fighting and more importantly my preparation. Time will reveal all."
