Conor McGregor UFC News: Notorious says birth of his kids saved fighting career

Conor McGregor claims that the birth of his two kids ultimately saved his MMA career.

In an interview with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, McGregor spoke of how the births of his son Conor Junior and his daughter Croia came at the perfect time.

McGregor said: “I am very, very blessed. What a time for it to happen for me. It was right on the money for me. I needed my kids to help me and they have helped me.

“I am blessed that I can bring my family with me. Life is crazy. Life is beautiful.”

Last year marked a turbulent year for the Notorious, who was caught up in a number of controversies outside the octagon.

Addressing some of the controversy around his antics, McGregor said he was being patient and that his doubters would be proved wrong in the end.

He said: “Patience is one of the most valuable skills we must master. Time will show all of them.”

The Notorious also revealed that his preparations for his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov, his last fight, were less than ideal.

“I was drinking on bleedin’ fight week the last time,” he told Helwani.

The Crumlin-born star said that his drinking levels weren’t normal ahead of the infamous grudge match against the Russian lightweight champion.

“I don’t know, I just had this venom in me or something, I don’t know why.”
