Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious pays tribute to SBG teammate and World Champion Lee Hammond

Conor McGregor has wished his SBG teammate and reigning world amateur champion Lee Hammond luck in the World Championships next week.

The Crumlin lightweight (14-4) heads off to Bahrain this week to defend his crown as he continues his outstanding run at amateur level.

And his training partner, UFC superstar McGregor, is by his side helping him prepare for the chasmpionships.

In an Instagram post of the two, McGregor said: "Good luck at the worlds young Hammo!

"Great work tonight".

It comes after the Crumlin native dropped into famous Rathcoole restaurant 'An Poitin Stil', a famous restaurant built on the site of an inn dating back to 1649.

The restaurant is a hit with commuters, who come in their droves from the N7, and McGregor is no different as he shared a picture of him and Croia enjoying a pit stop at the restaurant.

In the post to Instagram, McGregor said: "Ag An Poitin Stil le mo Princess.

"What a great premise this is right here on Dublin’s N7. Amazing Irish food how I love you so".

It comes Dana White says the UFC have not done anything for Conor McGregor's comeback fight.

The Notorious recently claimed that he would make his eagerly awaited return to the Octagon on January 18, but UFC President White claims the promotion have done nothing for the bout.

He said: "There's nothing done. Literally zero.

"Conor came out and said that. People then said, 'Is this true?' And I said, 'He wants to fight that date.' But we literally haven't done anything.

"Nobody has called Cerrone. Cerrone actually text me yesterday and said, 'I hope all this talk is true.' So there is literally nothing done. Zero."

Meanwhile, McGregor's manager claims to have held "very productive talks" with the UFC.

Audie Attar told Ariel Helwani of ESPN: "We had very productive talks this weekend with the UFC.

"I know Conor has announced a date, and in terms of discussions we have agreed on that date and we have agreed on that opponent.

"We're not going to reveal anything tonight but a deal is imminent, I don't see anything getting in the way barring some unforeseen circumstances.

"Both parties want to get it done, it's in the best interests of everyone involved and more importantly the fans are really excited to see him back."
