Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious meets Dana White and former UFC owner to discuss next fight

Conor McGregor met with the top UFC brass as the dust settled on his 40-second destruction of Donald Cerrone last weekend.

The Dubliner's attention has already to turned to what's next after his return, revealing that he would meet Dana White and former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta following the Las Vegas victory.

And the Notorious one has done just that as he was pictured with White and Fertitta as the trio assessed where the former UFC two-weight champ goes from here.

A rematch with rival Khabib Nurmagomedov seems to be the preferred route, but with the Eagle set to take on Tony Ferguson in April, McGregor might be hoping to fight sooner rather than later.

But other opponents still linger in the meantime.

Jorge Masvidal and Justin Gaethje are options at welterweight, while a trilogy fight with old foe Nate Diaz has been suggested as the next step for McGregor.

After meeting with the UFC decision makers, McGregor will head back into training next week as fans continue to speculate when they'll see him back in the cage.

Meanwhile, Dee Devlin says she is "proud beyond words" following Conor McGregor's UFC 246 win over Donald Cerrone.

The Notorious destroyed Cowboy in just 40 seconds in their main event bout last weekend.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday morning, Dee shared a photo of her and McGregor after his victory.

She commented on it: "Proud beyond words ❤️."

Meanwhile, McGregor's win has seen him climb the official UFC lightweight rankings.

He is now being lined up to face a number of big names, including a potential rematch with the lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, while boxing legends Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are also said to be interested in a bout.

Still above McGregor are the champion Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier, while Cerrone remains fifth following his humiliating defeat.

Cerrone faces six months on the sidelines after the loss as a result of the injuries he sustained from it, with a nasal fracture and possible mild orbital fracture needing to be cleared by a maxillofacial physician before he can enter the octagon again.
