Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious housing site investigated for noise complaint

A social housing development with links to Conor McGregor is under investigation from Dublin City Council for a noise complaint.

Fianna Fail councillor Rachael Batten told the Irish Mirror that the development backs on to two existing housing estates of about 60 houses.

And Cllr Batten says that she has received complaints from over 20 people over the noise levels.

She said: "For about three weeks, it's been ongoing, there is significant amounts of noise during the day but the main problem is that it is continuing on during the night.

"It seems to be coming from a power generator that doesn't have a time-off switch, so effectively it comes on randomly throughout the day.

"So during the night and on the weekend, the noise isn't being alleviated."

UFC star McGregor was involved in the project in the early stages, calling it his 'first property development'.

He said in May: "We have eight homes here closing in on finish.

"Three bedroom houses, designated for families that currently reside in hotels around the capital, without a home to call their own."

Cllr Batten has raised the noise level problems with Dublin City Council who have launched an investigation.

A Dublin City Council representative: "Planning Enforcement have received one complaint regarding noise levels from this site at the corner of Schoolhouse Lane, and Magenta Crescent, Santry, Dublin 9.

"A file has been opened and the matter is currently under investigation.

"I can also confirm that the Air Quality Monitoring and Noise Control Unit has received complaints regarding building sites in the vicinity of the area. A case file has been opened and the investigation is ongoing."

The Irish Mirror have contacted representatives of Conor McGregor for comment.
