Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious 'guaranteed' to fight Nate Diaz next instead of Khabib Nurmagomedov says Michael Bisping

UFC legend Michael Bisping believes Conor McGregor will take on old foe Nate Diaz for a third time in his next fight, Mirror UK reports .

McGregor is weighing up his next opponent after dispatching Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds on his UFC return on Saturday night.

Shortly before his fight, the Dubliner called out four rivals including Khabib Nurmagomedov and his upcoming opponent Tony Ferguson.

McGregor is also plotting a run at the 170lb title held by Kamaru Usman, and the BMF belt held by Jorge Masvidal.

But Bisping believes Diaz is in the frame for his next fight - because Ramadan rules out devout Muslim Khabib.

"I guarantee he fights Nate Diaz next," UFC legend Bisping told ESPN.

“Khabib isn’t going to fight him next, he is going to fight Tony Ferguson on April 18 and he will then have Ramadan.

"So even if beats Tony, he is not going to fight anyone else soon.

“Conor has already teased Diaz and it is good business, the fans and everybody else wants to see it and it makes money. That is what happens, that is my prediction.”

Meanwhile, McGregor's coach John Kavanagh has suggested he has set his sights on a fight Justin Gaethje.

"Justin Gaethje at 170 [pounds]. That would be my personal preference," Kavanagh said when asked about his next opponent.

When pressed why, he added: "Because he's another lightweight. None of them have to cut weight.

"The vision is getting that 155lb belt back so it's a step towards that."

It comes as John Kavanagh revealed that he'd would love if Conor McGregor stayed at welterweight and fought Justin Gaethje, but he won't have a say in the matter.

Even though the SBG supremo doesn't get a say in the matter, Kavanagh has weighed in on who should be next in McGregor's firing line.

"Justin Gaethje at 170 would be my personal preference," Kavanagh told Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.

"Because he’s another lightweight, but neither of them have to cut weight.

"The vision is getting that 155lb belt back, so it’s a step toward that.

"I don’t see the reason for him to cut weight unless there is a belt on the line, otherwise why would he do it.

"Stay at this weight, don’t cut weight and then when the big one comes along, shed the last 15 pounds."

Another potential match-up is the high-flying Jorge Masvidal, who was in attendance at UFC 246 to watch the 31-year-old - but shouts for the fight have been rejected by Dana White.

Kavanagh added: "Sure and who knows? It could be that [Masvidal].

"It’ll be Audie [Attar, McGregor’s manager], Conor and the UFC who make those decisions, I’ll just be in the background with the spit bucket."

And the Dubliner has now shared a glowing tribute to controversial US President Trump, congratulating him on his "incredible" term in office.

He also wished his American fans a happy Martin Luther King day as they celebrate the famous civil rights activist.

McGregor wrote on Twitter: "Phenomenal President. Quite possibly the USA GOAT (greatest of all time).

"Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him. No easy feet.

"Early stages of term also. Incredible. Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day America."
