Conor McGregor UFC News: Notorious' former promoter says he should 'stay out of the spotlight'

Conor McGregor should stay out of the spotlight ahead of his UFC return, according to his former promoter Graham Boylan.

The MMA megastar, 31, initially became a two-weight world champion in Cage Warriors before repeating the feat in the UFC , but now hasn't fought in over a year.

He has teased that he will return on January 18th, but current boss Dana White has denied that the date is set in stone.

When asked by Irish Mirror ahead of CW's return to Cork at Neptune Stadium on November 9th what he would do with the controversial Irishman if he were his promoter again, Boylan said: "I would first ask him to keep his head down and stay out of the spotlight.

"It would be tough to be his promoter at the moment because he has so much money and generally the guys who carry on when they have money are out to be the best in the world."

Many have accused The Notorious of changing his personality since he became a superstar, but Boylan insists he was always a brash figure, with an underlying respect.

"It was the same then as it is now," Boylan said. "With Dana [White], he's got a lot more money but he was always the same brash Conor, of course respectful but still the showman.

"He would turn up late for weigh-ins, show up with his belt over the shoulder and saying 'alright I'm here now we can start'.

"But he was always respectful when you talked to him, I don't see much difference in the Conor then and the Conor now to be honest."

Graham Boylan was speaking at the launch of Cage Warriors 110 which takes place in The Neptune Stadium Cork on November 9. Tickets are available now, for details see  CageWarriors.com
