Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious eyes fight with Manny Pacquiao to open Las Vegas stadium

Conor McGregor is eyeing a fight with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao to open the new Las Vegas stadium.

The former two-weight UFC world champion sees a future in the squared circle despite returning to the cage this weekend against Donald Cerrone.

He took on Floyd Mayweather in 2017 and was stopped in the 10th round by the ring legend.

But McGregor insists he can reign supreme in a second sport and has his eyes on a fight with Pacquiao as well as a rematch with Mayweather.

The new 65,000-capacity Allegiant Stadium is due to open this summer in Sin City and will play host to NFL side the Las Vegas Raiders.

And McGregor sees the venue as the perfect host for his boxing return.

"The Manny fight is there whenever," he said. "I would be honoured to be part of that event, I would love to be the first combatant to fight in that arena.

"What a fight that would be against Manny, a small powerful southpaw. I would have to figure out the weight but it's something that interests me no doubt.

"I'm going right to the top; I thought I did well against Floyd, I did do well, I won rounds, hit him more times than Manny hit him.

"I think with small adjustments in the prep and an understanding of his style, I would beat him.

"I would love the rematch with Floyd, it could happen this year."

McGregor also said he is willing to drop down a level in order to pursue his dream of becoming a boxing world champion."That was at the very, very top but there are many world champions around who are somewhat of a name," he added.

"I feel like I could fight against anyone, people want to see me compete and I want to compete for the people."
