Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious expects to make over €70 million from Donald Cerrone fight

Conor McGregor is expecting to to take home over €70 million from his UFC return against Donald Cerrone this Saturday.

The former two-weight world champion has not fought since he was choked out by Khabib Nurmagomedov 15 months ago.

But despite his inactivity - and his fight with Cerrone being a non-title bout - the Dubliner reckons he will earn more than he did for losing to Nurmagomedov.

"It's going to be a good pay cheque," he told ESPN. "Probably the most ever in my mixed martial arts career... I'm estimating a good $80m.

"We have Australia, Canada and England and Ireland... it should be a good one.

The Notorious one is the highest-earning mixed martial artist in history and banked $100m for fighting Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

But he insists no amount of money will drag him away from the fight game.

"For me it's not about money, it's forever money now," he added. "No amount of money will stop my hunger to compete and entertain.

"Too much money without an awareness of it can be dangerous.

"It's a wild game, I'm involved in so many businesses but there is no business like the fight business.

"I've learned some valuable lessons in this that I will use going forward.

"I've got some great people in my life; my coaches, my management and my family of course."

But McGregor admits that he's made mistakes in the past while preparing for fights and leading a life he 'shouldn't have been living' as he opened up on mistakes he made in the build-up to his loss to Nurmagomedov in 2018.

McGregor was submitted by his bitter rival and now he has opened up on the mistakes he made ahead of the fight.

But the 31-year-old claims to be focused ahead of his Cerrone bout, stating that he is better than he ever has been as he trains for the Las Vegas showdown.

"I've made mistakes," McGregor said on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show.

"I've been man enough to admit them, and correct them and that's what I've done. I might not be perfect, nut with a good sleep and a full belly - I'm damn close".

McGregor describes arranging unofficial fights with opponents ahead of the Khabib bout, before celebrating for days and leading a life he 'shouldn't have been living'.

McGregor added: "I was drinking all fight week for my last one. (It wasn't common) to that extent. I had this venom in me or something.

"I had people held up in a hotel from that part of the world (Russia), and I would ring and arrange a fight.

"They'd come from the hotel down to the gym and have a full blown fight - no headguard.

"We'd have a war and I'd win and I'd knock the guy out. I'd go off and celebrate and come back in three days. I don't know (what I was doing), not doing what I should have been doing.

"Just not living the life that I should have been living and that's it, I'm not going back there. I'm in a great spot now".
