Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious doing some matchmaking for fellow fighters

Conor McGregor is turning his hand to matchmaking, judging by his latest social media activity.

The Notorious has been absent from the octagon since his defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov last October and seemingly announced his retirement from MMA last month.

It has not lessened his interest in the sport though and he was a keen viewer when Dustin Poirier defeated Max Holloway for the lightweight interim title last weekend.

Poirier is naturally being lined up to take on Russian champion Nurmagomedov after he comes back from a suspension for the aftermath of UFC 229.

But McGregor sees it differently and has told Poirier he needs to take on Nate Diaz next.

The Crumlin fighter tweeted after UFC 236: "Amazing main event fights. How fighting should be! Max you are insanely tough! Please rest up now young Uce, you are a warrior head to toe! A champion FOREVER.

"Congratulations Dustin on a much deserved UFC title to your career. It is Nate next for you like previously scheduled."

McGregor has not hidden his ambition to own shares in the UFC and be one of the fight planners.

But the company's chief Dana White recently told McGregor to front up some cash if he wants a slice of the pie.
