Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious channels inner Sylvester Stallone ahead of court case in Dublin

Controversial fighter Conor McGregor was out pounding the pavements on Saturday as he tried to stay focused ahead of his court case on Friday.

The UFC star struck a “Rocky” pose while running around the quiet roads of Straffan, Co Kildare, with his dog Hugo, just days before he is set to appear before a judge on an assault charge.

He channelled his inner Sylvester Stallone as someone else shot a video of him to post on his Instagram.

It follows an incident in which McGregor allegedly punched a 50-year-old man in a pub in Drimnagh, South Dublin, in April.

The 31-year-old is to face a single assault charge, which carries a maximum prison term of six months, a €1,500 fine or both if convicted.

Detectives served a summons on the MMA fighter after the DPP directed earlier this year
he should be prosecuted.

However, video footage the Notorious posted on his Instagram show he is trying to keep himself occupied before his big day before the judge.

Wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a black and red top, grey hat and runners, McGregor is seen training close to his €1million mansion on the grounds of the K Club.

With no comeback date yet announced, fans have been speculating when McGregor will return to the Octagon and the latest footage could indicate that date is coming soon.

The fighter has since admitted he was “in the wrong” when questioned about the incident.

He told ESPN: “That man deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without having
to end the way it did. I tried to make amends and I made amends back then.

“I come here before you and take accountability and responsibility.”

And the court case is not all McGregor has had to worry about lately after it emerged his company, McGregor Sports and Entertainment Ltd, registered a six-figure loss in the past year.

Meanwhile, rival Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father has invited McGregor to Moscow for a rematch with his son.

The Crumlin man was defeated by the Russian when the pair met last October as Nurmagomedov won via submission in the fourth round of their Las Vegas bout.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov told YouTube channel Zhivina100: “If McGregor wants it, then Moscow is waiting for him.

“We want to host him in Moscow,  he is welcome – we are waiting.”
