Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious calls teammate Artem Lobov an 'animal' after sharing brutal injuries

Conor McGregor called his teammate Artem Lobov "an animal" after fighter showed off the brutal injuries he suffered from his bare knuckle boxing win over Jason Knight.

The former UFC star outpointed Knight on Saturday to set up a fight with Paulie Malignaggi this summer.

But he did not emerge unscathed as he was later taken to hospital.

Lobov was well enough to post a picture from his bed as Knight also 'showed off' his scars.

He captioned the picture, "Any plaster lads?".

Lobov, a former teammate of McGregor , was dropped in the first round but went on to floor his opponent in the same session.

He did likewise in the second and third rounds before the final two stanzas were played out at an astonishing tempo.

Both men were left bloodied but it was Lobov who had his hand raised after the judges scored the fight 48-47, 47-47, 48-46.

Lobov will now face former boxing world champion Malignaggi on June 22.

He said: "I thought he was conquered many times. I dropped him three or four times. He's a tough, tough kid. He kept coming and coming. That was a great fight.

"Malignaggi is a little p**** who plucks his eyebrows. I’m going to spark him."

The beaten Knight said: “We all know I didn’t lose that damn fight. We all know I got robbed."

McGregor heaped praise on his former teammate saying: "What an animal! Proud of you RusHammerMMA!

"Amazing fight. Paulie’s nice and quiet all of a sudden and that’s not like him haha.

"We want a new contract for the RusHammerMMA for this next bout! It has been earned and now deserved!"
