Conor McGregor UFC news: Nigel Owens enjoys a laugh with the Notorious on Dublin night out

Conor McGregor enjoyed a laugh with top rugby referee Nigel Owens over the weekend.

Welshman Owens, 47, was in Dublin for the PRO14 rugby awards and ended up bumping into the UFC star on Sunday night.

The pair were all smiles as they posed for a picture with Owens holding a pint of beer.

Owens joked of the photo: "I have just told him I am refereeing his next match so he has to be on his best behaviour lol."

The referee travelled up to the capital from Limerick where he officiated Munster' dramatic PRO14 play-off win over Benetton on Saturday.

Meanwhile, McGregor sang a rendition of "Whiskey in the Jar" as he paid tribute to fellow Crumlin man Phil Lynott over the weekend.

The Notorious posted a video of him signing the Thin Lizzy classic hit with US chat host Jimmy Fallon.

McGregor and Fallon came together for an Irish-themed duet in March but the UFC star posted a new clip of their singsong to celebrate his son Conor Junior's second birthday on Sunday.

He wrote about the video: "Here is a little “Proper in the Jar” with Jimmy Fallon to kickstart this Bank holiday weekend!

"My son turns 2 this weekend so we are celebrating! I count my lucky stars everyday for this life!

"I am feeling that great Friday feeling today, oh yes! I hope you all have a Proper weekend with the ones you love!

"Shout out Phil Lynott of Leighlin Road, Crumlin Dublin 12 also. A black Irishman from Crumlin in the 60s, that grew up to be become a true rock ‘n’ roll icon!

"I grew up right around the corner on Clonmacnoise Road. Up the Proper 12!
Happy Friday everyone!"

Conor's partner Dee Devlin replied to the video: "Yes!!!"

Conor Junior was the couple's first child two years ago before they had a baby daughter called Croia in January.
