Conor McGregor UFC news: Nate Diaz says he doesn't want to fight Notorious again

Nate Diaz claims he has no interest in a trilogy fight with old foe Conor McGregor.

Perhaps McGregor's greatest ever rival, the Stockton fighter was the first in the UFC to defeat the Dubliner - submitting him at UFC 196 back in 2016.

Diaz took the fight on just a few weeks notice, and his shock win ignited an intense rivalry between the pair as they went to war later that year in a five-round classic at UFC 202 as McGregor prevailed in a close contest.

The two took different paths as McGregor went on to defeat Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt, before losing to Floyd Mayweather and Khabib Nurmagomedov last October.

Diaz hasn't fought since their second fight, and was pencilled in to return late last year before his fight with Poirier fell through.

But as talk of a third, rivalry defining fight builds - Diaz has shot down any hopes of that happening.

Speaking on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show, Diaz said: “Conor was something that was really disappointing to me. Like I said, I didn’t lose that fight and then they gave him an easy f**king Eddie Alvarez fight and then he won the title.

“So I beat him after he won the 145lb title and before he won the 155lb title. Then he fought Floyd Mayweather. Then they [the UFC] are dissing me saying that I’m turning down fights and I’m like ‘dude, what are you talking about, you’re giving this guy the world and just putting me down’.

“So then three years went by and they start expecting that I’m going to start screaming for a fight with Conor as soon as he loses?

“No dude. I won that last fight, I’ll fight Khabib."

He added: “I’m interested in winners. He lost his last fight and I won my last fight. You think I’m trying to fight someone who just got his ass beat all over the place? I’m a black belt in jiu-jitsu. That shit wouldn’t happen to me.”
