Conor McGregor UFC News: Mike Tyson offers life advice to the Notorious

Conor McGregor must 'look inside himself' in order to come back from his recent controversies, says boxing legend Mike Tyson .

The controversial duo are no strangers to each other; 'Iron Mike' has watched some of the Notorious' fights live, while McGregor attended a spoken word show by Tyson and smoked weed with him in Dublin last year.

And speaking about how his pal McGregor can return to his former glories after a string of high-profile issues on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show on ESPN, Tyson said: "Conor has to look inside himself and say 'What happened? Why am I the way I am? And how do I stop this from continuing to be?'

Despite a string of controversies, including an alleged punch to a man in Dublin earlier this year that McGregor faces a court date for this Friday, the 50-6 boxing superstar insisted that McGregor is an "awesome guy".

But Tyson has admitted that in his experience, money can corrupt a young fighter, adding: "Listen, we don’t know how to handle this stuff.

"We have millions of dollars and we’ve never had this stuff, our family never had any of this and we’ve never been around this life.

“All of a sudden you start fighting, doing something you love to do and you do it easy, then all of a sudden they give you a lot of money for doing it.

"But you don’t have any restraint, you have no control and you don’t know what to do, you give it away, you buy people gifts they they may not deserve it.

"You don’t know what to do with it and you feel you don’t deserve it.”

Meanwhile, Dustin Poirier has claimed his next fight will be against Conor McGregor .

The pair fought in 2014 with McGregor winning by first-round stoppage before going on to win first the featherweight and then the lightweight titles.

Poirier, meanwhile, eventually earned a 155lb title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov last month but was submitted in the third round.

McGregor is also coming off a defeat by the unbeaten Russian and is expected to return to the UFC early next year.

He and Poirier have engaged in verbal sparring in recent weeks and the latter has now hinted a deal may be close.
