Conor McGregor UFC news: Mike Tyson defends Notorious after pub incident

Former heavyweight king Mike Tyson has defended under fire UFC star Conor McGregor.

A viral video surfaced last week appearing to show McGregor punching a man who refused a glass of his own whiskey in a Dublin pub in April.

The 50-year-old punter has called the Crumlin man "a bully with money" as many social media users have panned the fighter.

McGregor has admitted, in an interview with ESPN, that he was "in the wrong" and called watching the video a "dagger in the heart".

The victim has since told the Irish Daily Mirror that he was not happy with the Notorious' apology.

He said: “I suppose he’s trying to cover himself. I think it was his only route to take. He apologised to all his fans. I didn’t get an apology.

“He didn’t give me an apology, he’s just given one to all his fans and his family. He’s more or less admitted that he was in the wrong.”

When asked if an apology in person would help, he said: “It could do. He would need to do it to me rather than through the media.”

But McGregor has a supporter in his corner in the shape of former world heavyweight champion Tyson.

The 53-year-old said: "He's a wonderful person. He's a really kind man and he's gonna get good karma for that. I believe that."

The pair resolved their differences last year after McGregor had said Tyson made some comments in the past that he "did not like" but had brushed that aside.

McGregor met 'Iron Mike' at an event in Dublin where the UFC star said Tyson's marijuana strain was "very nice".
