Conor McGregor UFC news: Donald Cerrone offers advice to young fighter ahead of Notorious bout

Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone has fought fifty times over a long and distinguished career in mixed martial arts, and he's no stranger to picking himself up after a loss.

The American takes on Conor McGregor in Las Vegas on January 18 at UFC 246 in the biggest fight of his career.

In fifty professional bout, Cowboy's hand was raised 36 times. But he's been on the other side of the stick 13 times at different periods of his career.

And chatting to a young fighter, the 36-year-old imparted some real wisdom on the youngster.

Sitting on the steps of a cage, Cerrone told the 23-year-old: "What just happened in there is the most important thing that could happen to you man.

"Losing is like, it sucks. Because you have so much riding on you like your friends, your family, your girlfriend. Everyone's here (saying) "He's gonna f*****g kill that dude!".

"There's so much weight on your shoulders man. But here's my thing: What happened? Nothing.

"Did you get in a car accident and lose your leg? No. You're gonna go drink a beer and have a good time, right?

"Like losing sucks but don't let it take over your life man. You know what I'm saying? It's just like a sporting event.

"This is an amateur fight, maybe if you're a pro and there's millions on the line... I can get it. But right now you're f*****g learning, and you're driving, and you're going so hard.

"I get it, trust me I've been there. When you go look at yourself in the mirror tonight, be like: 'You're a bad m**********r dude!".
