Conor McGregor UFC news: Arsenal star Kieran Tierney reveals he is 'biggest fanboy' of The Notorious

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has thrown his support behind Conor McGregor ahead of tonight's showdown with Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone at UFC 246.

The ex-Celtic full-back has long been a supporter of the Dubliner and, speaking to Arsenal.com, jokingly claimed he is McGregor's 'biggest fanboy'.

Former two-weight kingpin McGregor received a Celtic shirt from Tierney during his time at Parkhead, which 'The Notorious' wore during training.

The Scot said: "I'm the biggest fanboy of Conor McGregor, ever. The documentaries I've watched, I've watched every video on YouTube, twice I think!

"For me, to have a relationship of some sort with him, I've messaged him on Instagram and I sent over a shirt he wore on and put on Instagram.

"To see that, honestly, I didn't get any sleep that night either after I saw that.

"He supports me as well so I'm delighted to just sort of be friends with him. I've met him as well, I met him at UFC in Belfast at a UFC event and that's what started it off."

Tierney - who is out injured for Arsenal's clash against Sheffield United this afternoon - will be glued to the action tonight when McGregor fights for the first time since defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.
