Conor McGregor tipped for WWE run as he faces six-month UFC medical ban

It's not a matter of if Conor McGregor will make a WWE appearance in the future, it's a matter of when.

That's according to WWE star and fellow Dubliner Sheamus as the Notorious one faces six months on the sidelines following his UFC 257 loss to Dustin Poirier.

With McGregor's career at a crossroads following his third UFC loss, he's been linked with a move to professional wrestling in the near future.

WWE have regularly attracted celebrities and sports stars to make appearances in recent years, and we've seen the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Tyson Fury grace a WWE ring.

And with the company's flagship show WrestleMania on the way in April, McGregor has been tipped for a run with the company in the future.

"He's teased (coming to WWE) a couple of times," Sheamus said during an interview with Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy ahead of his fight with Poirier.

"He's still staying active, he's a lad who's won belts, he's done a lot, so I think he's that type of person who's always trying to try his hand at something different.

"I think WWE would suit him down to the ground. You know, we've had a lot of people come in and out, (Floyd) Mayweather came in, a lot of celebrities have come in, a lot of sports people.

"So I don't think anyone would raise eyebrows if he came in to WWE. I don't think it's if, I think it's a matter of when to be honest."
