Conor McGregor remains convinced he was on his way to beating Khabib Nurmagomedov two years ago.
The Irishman was comprehensively outclassed by the UFC's lightweight champion as the Russian secured a fourth-round submission.
McGregor had struggled to get a foot hold in the fight until Nurmagomedov took his back and executed a rear-naked choke.
Two years on, however, McGregor attempted to explain why he was on top throughout.
Responding to a fan who said a more motivated McGregor would win a rematch, the former two-weight world champion said: "Round one's mine; out-struck 3-1... Elbow, knees, clatters, he held on.

"[Two is] his but I land multiple knees; one from standing after the overhand, and one from bottom into the eye socket at kimura attempt. Not a scratch [at the ] end of [the] round also. I won round three, and four until the trip."
When another fan asked him how he could justify saying he won the first round, McGregor added: "Damage! Back hands forced him to the fence; knee into neck as he shot, after 15 seconds of opening bell.
"Heavy elbow right into his temple as he froze after his shot, repeated clatters to the temple while he tries his mermaid wrap leg. Round was one [was] pitiful from him, round two saved him."
McGregor has fought only once since his fourth career defeat, stopping Donald Cerrone inside 40 seconds early this year.
But after initially announcing his retirement from the sport in June, the Dubliner has now confirmed he will extend his career.
A rematch with Dustin Poirier, whom McGregor beat in 2014, has been agreed in principle for January 23.
Victory for either man would propel them into the No.1 contender spot for another shot at Nurmagomedov, assuming he successfully defends his title against Justin Gaethje this weekend.
