Conor McGregor slammed by UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman

Kamaru Usman has branded Conor McGregor 'just a regular fighter'.

The Notorious is aiming to get his UFC career back on track by beating Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight this summer.

McGregor suffered a shock defeat to the American in January when he was stopped in the second round of their bout in Abu Dhabi.

That loss came a year after the Dubliner destroyed Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds, but Usman believes McGregor is not the same fighter he once was.

The UFC welterweight champion told ESPN: “He’s not the champion Conor McGregor. He’s not the double champion. He’s not that guy anymore. The old Conor, the hungry Conor, that was the fighter that fighters respected.

“Not that we don’t respect him at all, he’s still a UFC fighter, but he’s just a regular fighter.”

McGregor is ramping up preparations for his trilogy fight with Poirier this summer.

The fomer two-weight champion's long-time coaches John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy jetted out to Dubai last Monday for his training camp.

The 32-year-old's fiancee Dee Devlin gave birth to the couple's third child earlier this week, just days after McGregor was named the world's richest athlete.

McGregor took to Instagram to post a picture with his new son, saying: "The McGregor Clan is now a family of 5.

"Healthy baby boy delivered! Baby and Mammy Wonder Woman are doing great! God I thank you for everything you give to me and my family in this world.

"My new born son, Rían McGregor."
