Conor McGregor sent warning over potential Charles Oliveira fight

Conor McGregor has been told he will not defeat recently crowned UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira - even if he beats Dustin Poirier.

The Notorious returns to the octagon on July 10 for a trilogy fight with Poirier after suffering a shock loss to the American in January.

Oliveira defeated Michael Chandler last weekend to become the UFC's 11th lightweight champion, with McGregor asking afterwards: "Wonder who Twelve is..."

McGregor is expected to face Oliveira later in the year if he defeats Poirier in Las Vegas this summer.

But former UFC fighter and current MMA coach Mark Weir can't see the former two-weight champion - or anyone else - beating the Brazilian anytime soon.

He told Sky Sports: "Just the performance against Michael Chandler. I didn't expect him to win like that. He showed a fighter's heart. But the main thing is he's so intelligent. I can't see Charles losing for a while, if he keeps that mindset."

Weir added: "I thought he'd win, but on the submission side. But when he came out round two…wow, the power was there and he has to be one of the most complete fighters on the UFC roster."

McGregor is stepping up preparations for the July 10 trilogy bout, with his coaches John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy jetting out to Dubai last Monday.

The former two-weight champion's fiancee Dee Devlin gave birth to the couple's third child earlier this week, just days after McGregor was named the world's richest athlete.

McGregor took to Instagram to post a picture with his new son, saying: "The McGregor Clan is now a family of 5.

"Healthy baby boy delivered! Baby and Mammy Wonder Woman are doing great! God I thank you for everything you give to me and my family in this world.

"My new born son, Rían McGregor."
