Conor McGregor sent chilling warning ahead of UFC return

Conor McGregor has been warned that there is an 'army waiting for him' in the lightweight and welterweight divisions of the UFC.

The 32-year-old's fiercest rival Khabib Nurmagomedov is off the scene following his retirement in October, although he hasn't fully ruled out a comeback at some stage.

But the undefeated Russian's manager Ali Abdelaziz insists that he has other fighters waiting to dish out punishment to The Notorious.

McGregor and Abdelaziz have traded barbs on plenty of occasions in the past and the pair were involved in another war of words yesterday.

Abdelaziz warned: "You will never be a champ again because I have army waiting for you 155/170(lbs). "

And in the tweet, Abdelaziz tagged a number of fighters including Justin Gaethje and Khabib's fellow Russian Khamzat Chimaev.

McGregor has been enjoying Christmas at home with his family ahead of his return to UFC action against Dustin Poirier on January 23.

The UFC star and his girlfriend Dee Devlin announced on Christmas Eve that they are expecting their third child next year.

Ahead of his return to the octagon, McGregor's striking coach Owen Roddy claims his fighter is in the best shape he has ever been in.

Roddy told The MMA Bash: "I think Poirier's improved an awful lot since that first fight.

"I think Conor has improved, you know, more, since then as well.

"They're definitely better fighters than they were when they fought each other but Conor is still the better fighter. I just think he's too precise.

"Poirier is skillful, he's got good hands and he's tough and durable, and he sets a good pace but I just don't see where he beats Conor

"Conor's just too good everywhere, too precise, and too clinical with his striking."
