Conor McGregor sends message to Tyson Fury and wife Paris

Conor McGregor took to Twitter to congratulate Tyson Fury following his epic KO win over Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas last night.

The Gypsy King held on to the WBC heavyweight title with an 11th-round stoppage victory against the American as the pair completed a trilogy of hard-fought scraps.

Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor praised both fighters, tweeting: "Great fight that. Both warriors, both winners.

"Hard to not be impressed with Deontay there. Against the much larger man and almost got it done. Great fight.

"40lbs in weight difference is A LOT. Fair play both men there, very enjoyable fights they have had together. Respect."

The Dublin MMA star, 33, couldn't resist throwing a dig in at UFC rival Dustin Poirier while congratulating Fury and Wilder.

He suffered a devastating leg-break in his defeat to Poirier back in July and wasn't pleased with the Louisiana native's celebrations after that result.

McGregor added: "Their skill levels are unique but very close. A great heavyweight trilogy that was.

"I love when it gets set for certain and both have an honorable showing. Not the fam in the ring fake celebrating after a freak injury etc etc you know the gig, God bless the real in this world.

"Congrats Tyson and Paris. Me and Dee are so happy for you and the kids.

"Congrats Deontay and Telli also. Was great meeting you guys recently. A real proud showing that was, and could have went either way. Amazing!

"Happy Sunday now today with the cheddar and the memory’s God bless."

This third fight between the pair was unquestionably their best, with Wilder the first to hit the canvas after sinking to his knees in the third round.

Wilder not only survived but turned the fight on its head in the next session with his famed right-hand decking Fury twice in the fourth.

But the exertions seemed to take their toll on Wilder and Fury regained the upper hand around the scheduled halfway stage.

Fury evened up the knockdowns in the 10th before a flurry in the penultimate round brought an end to the bout.
