Conor McGregor sends message to Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett ahead of UFC debut

Conor McGregor has wished Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett luck ahead of his UFC debut in Las Vegas next month.

Pimblett, 26, climbed the ranks at Cage Warriors to earn his shot in the world's biggest MMA promotion.

Both Pimblett and McGregor became the Cage Warriors featherweight champion and the Liverpool star is aiming to replicate the Irishman's success after joining the UFC.

McGregor became the first fighter in history to hold two world titles in different weight divisions at the same time by defeating Eddie Alvarez to win the UFC lightweight title at UFC 205 and is widely recognised as the biggest superstar the sport has ever seen.

Pimblett makes his long-awaited debut in the promotion on September 4 against Luigi Vendramini.

Ahead of the bout, McGregor sent his best wishes to the Scouse star and reminisced about his time in Liverpool after attending the Grand National in 2017.

He wrote on Twitter: "Good luck Paddy, I was outside your gaff all hours with your man with long hair thats doing 30 year now [sic] forget his name," before taking a shot at former British champion Michael Bisping.

"Knock, knock, who's there? Not Mike. Hahaha. It's brews not bevvies with them. Meatball," he added with a picture of an American flag, referencing an altercation between Bisping and a stranger in the United States.

Pimblett responded to the Irish superstar with a promise to his fans who can't wait to see him chase UFC gold.

He wrote: "Thank you Conor, I'm coming to takeover the UFC, just like you did.

"I know who you mean, he told me about that in Glasto. I wish yous were at the right house as I was on the party scene myself and would have come out and we'd had a scream.

"I'll meet you soon though big man, 100 per cent."

Pimblett's debut will take place at the UFC Apex facility in Nevada, headlined by a middleweight tilt between fellow Scouser Darren Till and Derek Brunson.

A lifelong Liverpool fan, Pimblett has repeatedly stated his intentions to sell out a UFC event at Anfield in the future.

He told ITV in May: "I want to do UFC Anfield. I want to pack Anfield out and have 60,000 fans in there.

"For me now, I'm in the biggest MMA organisation in the world- the goal is to get Anfield done."
