Conor McGregor sends message to Khabib Nurmagomedov's team along with clip of octagon brawl

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are unlikely to square off in the octagon in the near future but that has not stopped the heated rivals from trading barbs.

Russian ace Khabib is preparing to face Justin Gaethje on October 24, while McGregor is getting ready for a rematch with Dustin Poirier six years on from their first meeting, before he crosses over into boxing again to fight Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao.

The Dublin superstar brought the 2018 defeat to his fierce rival back into the spotlight with a social media post showing footage of Khabib's team-mates jumping into the octagon and brawling with McGregor after their pal's famous win.

The Notorious shared the video on Instagram with the caption: "Unlucky lads (crying laughing emoji).

Meanwhile, Khabib has revealed why he rejected a chance to take on McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter after UFC boss Dana White had looked to set up the highly anticipated rematch as part of the TV show.

“This Ultimate Fighter with him…it’s good attention for him,” Nurmagomedov told ESPN. “I don’t want to give him this. I would never do this for him.

“Even if they give me $5 billion, even if they gave me UFC, I would never do this. This is good attention for him.

“It’s done. Everything is done. October 6 I finished him and I finished everything about him.

“I have new challenge, Dustin Poirier and now Justin Gaethje. We will see who is going to be next but I don’t think it’s going to be Conor McGregor.”
