Conor McGregor sends message to Khabib Nurmagomedov ahead of UFC return

Conor McGregor said he is out for revenge against Khabib Nurmagomedov with 'The Notorious' returning to the Octagon in February.

McGregor is taking on Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone as the headline act for UFC 246 in Las Vegas in January, his first fight since his defeat to lightweight champion Nurmagomedov in 2018.

It is thought McGregor also wants to fight Jorge Masvidal and, perhaps most of all, he is desperate for a rematch with Nurmagomedov.

And he certainly didn't lack any fighting talk in his recent Instagram story, with a clip of him during the fight with Nurmagomedov with the caption: "Little scurrying rat I'm coming."

The video has since been deleted, but there appears to be no doubt that McGregor is determined to avenge his defeat to the Russian.

McGregor's striking coach Owen Roddy recently spoke about his three-fight plan for the year, and insisted McGregor is capable of beating them all.

Speaking to MMA Fighting Roddy said: "That's the plan. That's what he wants to do and there's one thing I always say: When Conor says he wants to do something, if anyone is going to do it, he can.

"But, let's not look past Cerrone. He's a tricky opponent and he's a veteran with tricks up his sleeve.

"But Conor is going in there the way he looks now, he should do well."

Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, will take on Tony Ferguson in April, but has been rumoured to take on the returning Floyd Mayweather in the future.

“I have already signed a contract for my next fight in April. At the moment, I’m not thinking either of boxing or of Mayweather,” he told TASS (via World Boxing News ).

“What can I say? – He is one of the greatest boxers of all time. This is why it will be tough fighting against him under the rules of boxing."
