Conor McGregor says his next fight will be against Manny Pacquiao in Middle East

Conor McGregor claims that his next fight will be a boxing match against legend Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East.

The Dubliner announced his retirement earlier this summer, and while explaining his reasoning behind the announcement, dropped the bombshell.

McGregor fought boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in August 2017, but lost via TKO in the 10th round at Las Vegas.

McGregor took to Twitter to explain how he lost patience with the UFC as he attempted to arrange a fight during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a series of tweets, he said: "I was pushing hard for the season. Multiple opponents, multiple dates offered throughout. All to take place back-to-back.

"Then when covid hit and the talk was that I would have to wait for crowds again, I walked away from the situation. I was waiting long enough at that stage.

"Anyway all water under the bridge who gives a fook. I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East."

It comes after McGregor has shared screenshots of his messages with UFC president Dana White that show he wanted to fight Diego Sanchez in Dublin this year.

The former two-weight champ retired earlier this summer after failing to come to an agreement on his next opponent with the company's top brass during the Covid-19 pandemic.

But as McGregor shared a host of texts sent back and forth between him and White in February, it's clear that McGregor was keen to get a fight in May as well as August this year in a 'season'.

The texts show that White offered McGregor a shot at Justin Gaethje for July before the Covid-19 pandemic took hold of the world, but the Notorious one wanted to fight in May.

It also showed that McGregor wanted to take on veteran Diego Sanchez in Dublin this year, with the 32-year-old responding to the challenge to be his final fight.

In a tweet, McGregor shared the messages saying: "To Diego Sanchez... I seen your recent comments about your final bout and I am in!

"After you fought Pereira, I had requested for myself and you to compete in Dublin. This was back in February when I was working on opposition for my season, pre covid. Good luck this weekend!"
