Conor McGregor's teammate James Gallagher predicted a 40 second knockout against Donald Cerrone in November

One of Conor McGregor's teammates sensationally predicted a 40 second knockout against Donald Cerrone 2 months before fight.

James 'Strabanimal' Gallagher gave the perfect prediction in November while promoting his upcoming Bellator bout against Cal Ellenor.

Gallagher, who fights out of SBG along side McGregor, said it was a bad "stylistic match up" and Donald Cerrone is a "slow starter".

Gallagher said: "Conor knocks him out in about 40 seconds. Easy fight, easy fight.

"Bad stylistic matchup. Slow starter against one of the fastest fighters, hardest hitting fighters, in the whole UFC.

"He's very focused, in great shape mentally, physically.

"Bad night for Cowboy. A retirement plan for Cowboy.

"His last one. Get the money man. Step in against him, take your loss, then go and enjoy your life."

And the predictions came true as McGregor destroyed Cowboy in 40 seconds in the main event of UFC 246 in Las Vegas.

The Notorious hammered Cerrone's face with multiple shoulder shrugs before flooring him with a thunderous left kick.

The UFC poster boy then unloaded a number of savage punches to Cowboy before referee Herb Dean put an end to his misery.

The result means McGregor has become the first person in the history of the UFC have recorded knockout wins at featherweight, lightweight and welterweight.

McGregor looks set to stay fighting at welterweight and he says he doesn't care who he faces next as the 170lbs champion Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal looked on.

Speaking after the fight, McGregor said: "I'm going to party tonight, celebrate, spend time with my family and then get back in the gym and train.

"And anyone of these little mouthy fools can get it."
