Conor McGregor's next opponent odds: Jorge Masvidal set to be next in line for Notorious

Bookmakers think it is nearly a done deal that Conor McGregor will take on welterweight Jorge Masvidal next after his demolition of Donald Cerrone.

McGregor needed only 40 seconds to defeat Cerrone in Las Vegas on Saturday night with attention already turning to his future plans.

He said after beating Cerrone: "Anyone of these little mouthy fools [welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal] can get it.

"All of them, every single one of them. It does not matter.

"I'm back and I'm ready."

He added: "I like this weight division.

"I feel really good, it's good going up and down.

"God willing, I came out of this unscathed. I'm in shape but I don't believe I'm there yet.

"I've got one more to do to get back to where I was.

"I'll party tonight, spend time with my family and then get back in the gym."

With McGregor recently pledging to have at least three fights in 2020, it looks as if 35-year-old Masvidal is next on his hit list.

Paddy Power make it 1/10 that the Notorious will take on Masvidal  - who defeated Nate Diaz last November - next with a possible late March-early April fight date.

Next on the possible opponents is Khabib Nurmagomedov with it 15/2 that McGregor will seek revenge for his October 2018 loss.

And it is 11/1 that McGregor will take on lightweight king Tony Ferguson, while despite Dana White talking up the proposition on Saturday, it is 100/1 that McGregor will take on boxing kingpin Floyd Mayweather once again.

Meanwhile, Paddy Power estimate that the early finish for McGregor at the T-Mobile Arena cost the bookies over €1m.

Paddy Power's Rachael Kane said: "We figure industrywide, bookies would have lost in excess of €1m on McGregor finishing it in 60 seconds or the first round, which would have been the most popular market amongst punters in relation to his bout against Cerrone - probably because he wasn’t 100% fit and wanted to get the job done fast.
