Conor McGregor's dad Tony enjoys pint in Dublin as Notorious prepares for Dustin Poirier trilogy fight in California

Tony McGregor enjoyed a pint in Dublin over the weekend as his son prepared for a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier miles away.

Conor McGregor faces the American for a third time next month after suffering a shock defeat to him back in January.

The Notorious has moved his training camp from Dubai to California in the past week as he puts the finishing touches on his preparations for the July 10 bout in Las Vegas.

Tony headed for a pint of Budweiser at the Poolbeg Yacht Club over the weekend, commenting on Instagram that the drink was "a year and a half in the making".

The former taxi driver also shared an old snap with his UFC star son with the caption: "To new adventures 2021."

Tony will soon be able to head for a drink in his son's pub, with the Black Forge Inn set to open its doors in Dublin next month.

The former two-weight champion purchased the pub in his native Crumlin for an estimated €2million last year and is understood to have spent a further €1million renovating it.

The pub recently tweeted: "World Class Cocktails, In A World Class Venue, Using World Class Spirits - The Black Forge - A World Class Experience Coming Soon 05.07.21.”

The 'wet pub' has been closed since the first Covid-19 lockdown last March.

In December, a successful application was made by new operators, Jemi Ventures Ltd, to transfer the pub licence.

The firm’s director is Alan Geraghty and the company secretary is Dee Devlin.

Along with Devlin, Geraghty is the director of the former UFC champ’s four main businesses in Dublin.

McGregor famously dropped in to visit the pub on one occasion and handed out thousands of euro worth of his Proper 12 whiskey brand to punters.

The whiskey will be a prominent feature in the bar, with Proper 12 cocktails among the "world class" spirits promised to visitors next month.
