Conor McGregor's cryptic tweet sends fans into meltdown over return to fight game

Conor McGregor has posted a cryptic tweet which has sent fans into meltdown over his possible return to the UFC.

The 31-year-old hasn't fought since last October when he was beaten by Russian champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

He sensationally "retired" earlier this year in a Twitter post, before dismissing the announcement weeks later.

In a recent interview with ESPN's Ariel Helwani, the Dublin fighter said he hoped he make his return to the Octagon by the end of 2019.

And the Crumlin native has further fuelled speculation that he'll compete this year, by tweeting early on Monday morning: "Dublin, December 14."

However, no official announcement has been made and it is unclear whether this indicates that the Notorious will have a home bout in three months time.

It appears if he were to fight on this date, it would require a shake-up in the fight company's schedule as UFC 245 is down for Saturday, December 14.

Amanda Nunes is due to fight Germaine de Randamie in the main event in the women's bantamweight division at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
