A trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz in 2022 would be "special", according to Irishman's coaching team.
The UFC veterans won one each of two of the biggest fights in mixed martial arts history in 2016.
And with just one fight left on Diaz's deal, McGregor's head trainer John Kavanagh believes the rivalry must be settled, particularly if the American is set to move on to a boxing match after his last UFC bout.
McGregor himself is reported to have just two fights left on his current deal, but has vowed to retire with the promotion, and will likely stick around after that contract finishes.
"That would be a way to end it," Kavanagh told Mirror Fighting when asked about Diaz's deal coming to a close. "I think Conor only has one or two left as well.
"Look, the Nate trilogy is like Batman vs Joker, they're going to face each other forever.
"They're just perfectly made opponents, it's great fun the build-up and there's a respect, I won't say it's begrudging.

"They snipe at each other, but there's a bit of a tip of the hat to each other as well because they're both warriors and great fighters. It would be lovely to see."
The Irishman's striking coach Owen Roddy agreed with Kavanagh's sentiment, as well as noting that there are a number of solid options for the former two-weight world champion.
McGregor is currently recovering from a broken leg, and is expected to return before the second half of next year once he has been medically cleared to train and compete.
He is currently said to weigh 195lbs, or almost three-stone heavier than his last fight, but is expected to drop back down once he returns to full contact training.
"Maybe Nate," Roddy responded when asked who he would pick if he were to book McGregor's comeback fight. "I don't know.
"To be honest, I've always said it'll be just good to see Conor back in the cage.
"He's put on a bit of muscle but the fact is that he can only work on the leg, he's working upper body and stuff like that.

"But you know what? There's no better man to make weight and fight at whatever weight class we pick."
Diaz, on the other hand, appears to be heading to the world of boxing, once he has worked out a deal for his final UFC fight.
He was in attendance at Jake Paul's rematch with Tyron Woodley at the Amalie Arena in Florida last weekend, amid talks that he could be a future opponent for the YouTube star.
Paul called Diaz out after the fight, but his manager Nakisa Bidarian insisted at the post-fight press conference that there were no talks underway because of his contractual status with the MMA promotion.
He is angling for a match-up with Dustin Poirier next year, which UFC president Dana White has teased as a possibility for the early part of 2022.
Kavanagh and Roddy were speaking at an event to help raise funds for MMA fighter Ian Coughlan, who was left paralysed by an horrific training injury while preparing for a bout. You can donate to the cause by clicking here.
