Conor McGregor's boxing coach says he's 'on fire' ahead of Dustin Poirier fight

Conor McGregor's long-time boxing coach Phil Sutcliffe reckons the UFC star is 'on fire' ahead of his fight with Dustin Poirier.

The Notorious one is in Abu Dhabi and checked into the fighters hotel on Yas Island this morning ahead of the UFC 257 main event on Saturday.

And Crumlin Boxing Club coach and former Olympian Sutcliffe will be in his corner after working with the Notorious one during his pre-fight camp.

Sutcliffe was his first coach when a young McGregor first walked into a gym, beginning his remarkable rise to stardom as an amateur boxer before making the crossover to MMA with John Kavanagh.

And as one of the few that have witnessed McGregor's preparations for his return to the cage this weekend, he reckons McGregor has the skill of boxing down to 'a fine art'.

Sutcliffe told UFC 257 Countdown: "Conor has it down to a fine art now. He has a team around him that are so good but remember, Conor put that team around him.

"He picks his own shots - he picks his own sessions to make sure that he is ready.

"Conor is on fire at the moment, right. He's on fire."
