Conor McGregor is rising up the UFC’s lightweight rankings after his big win over Donald Cerrone and took time to reach out to President Donald Trump to congratulate him on the job he is doing.
The Irishman knocked out ‘Cowboy’ in the first minute of the contest at UFC 246 in his triumphant return to the Octagon last weekend.
And while McGregor has flirted with the idea of boxing again, chasing money-spinning fights with Manny Pacquiao or the rematch with Floyd Mayweather, it appears as if his immediate future will be in the UFC.
With his intent to jump at big fights throughout the remainder of the year, McGregor is now primed after moving up a place to No 3 at lightweight.
McGregor is now ahead of Justin Gaethje, but remains behind Dustin Poirier in second and Tony Ferguson in first behind the champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Cerrone meanwhile, who is dealing with a nasal fracture and a possible mild orbital fracture, keeps his place in fifth.
McGregor took time out on Martin Luthar King Day on Tuesday to praise President Donald Trump.
“Phenomenal President,” tweeted McGregor. “Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him.
“No easy feet [sic]. Early stages of term also. Incredible. Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day America.”
